Angela is a native of Louisburg, N.C. who has lived in Wake Forest for twenty years with her husband, Jeff. They have one daughter. In her thirties, Angela was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (blood cancer), and she went into acute kidney failure in 2010. After much treatment, including a bone marrow transplant, Angela went into and has remained in a stringent complete remission. The treatment regimen she underwent is described by some doctors as being “born again.”
In 2013, Angela published a book, Hear I AM: Conversations with God Through Hurt and Healing, sharing her story intimately through her talks with God throughout the “sick season.” And she now continues to share her faith journey through her subsequent “Beyond the Hurt and Healing” blog.
Angela is a graduate of Meredith College and East Carolina University, with a doctorate in education, and has been a public school educator (Spanish/ESL) and professor. Now, she’s a writer and speaker passionate about being “real” regarding the pain/suffering of this life and encouraging others to allow whatever they’re going through to deepen their relationship with God.
